Another Successful Medication Take Back |
CMHA’s Substance Abuse Action Council (SAAC) and the Plainville Coalition for Positive Youth Development hosted a Medication Take Back at the Plainville Senior Center on April 17. The event brought in 31,082 medications, including nearly 5,000 potentially abuseable narcotics.
SAAC has been working to make our communities safer by taking drugs out of circulation, and this was the fifth in a series of successful Medication Take Backs. The events, funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Drug Free Community Grant and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), not only educate the community about the proper disposal of prescription and over-the-counter medications, but remove unused medications that could end up diverted for illegal use.
