Local Prevention Councils function at the local community level to provide primary prevention. SAAC serves as the liaison between the LPCs in our fourteen communities and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS). LPCs participate in the state-wide underage drinking and smoking prevention programs.

- Classroom presentations in elementary, middle, and high schools
- Support for safe graduation night
- Participation in health fairs
- Sponsor Youth Service Day
- Information to encourage a healthy lifestyle disseminated to youth enrolled in the summer Youth Employment Program.
