Local Prevention Councils function at the local community level to provide primary prevention. SAAC serves as the liaison between the LPCs in our fourteen communities and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS). LPCs participate in the state-wide underage drinking and smoking prevention programs.

Activities for 2008 - 2009:

• Red Ribbon Week activities.
• Weekly Teen Club--educational and adventure-based activities.
• Substance abuse education at after-school fun clubs, summer fun club, and teen club collaborated with McCall Foundation.
• Summer Fun Club (8 week day camp).
• Information dissemination at Youth Services office, town halls, and libraries.
• Collaboration with health teachers in two middle schools.
• Parent support groups at two elementary schools and one middle school.
